Less than 24 hours to leaving and 42 to pedaling ... last minute panics about kit, travel, nav and bike bits. Feeling pretty good and looking even better, we're ready for the off.
Why are we doing this? Well, it all started one lunch over New Year, when in a fit of mid-life angst, a few chaps, ably assisted by a few beers and wine, started talking about walking up Kilimanjaro and others about cycling LEJOG. The idea was born.
2000+ miles of cycling later, lighter by a few kilo's, lighter by lots of £'s, new bikes and padded shorts, Paul Redwood, Guy Stanton, Tim Whiting, Dave Brown, Richard Picton-Jones are cycling the 900 odd miles. We are to be joined by training partners Richard (Skanny) Skan and Alan Hartin for the first 3 days...Lands End to Shrewsbury and home!
As a charitable bit we are supporting various cancer charities...and you can donate via: http://www.justgiving.com/Guy-Stanton or http://www.ilmington-defibrillator.co.uk/ for the Illmington Defibrillator team.
We start on the 2nd Sept from Lands end and cycle until 11th and John O'G's. A half day booked in to play a round at Dornoch should see us right.
With trepidation, we sally forth in minibus tomorrow lunch... More anon.
