Leaving the A38 to smaller lanes for the last few miles was a tonic! Twisting through the Somerset flats in the evening sun, up to the hotel with a ridiculously steep drive!
Indeed it's a hotel you know...M5 S of Bristol after the dramatic bit and there's a big hotel perched on the hill...Webbington Spa.
At one point a buzzard standing sentinel in a field eyed us as we slipped by. Must have been odd for him with 14 eyes peering out of Lycra and helmets!
And of all the luck, Best Western have kindly donated our accom, booze and meals. V generous.
It's been a tough but rewarding day. The hills of Devon and Cornwall slip from our collective memories and the relative flatlands await. Yipppeee.
